Clear message from Mykhailo Vydoinyk to the Nordic countries: “First of all, we need weapons.”

Under the heading “War in Europe again – How can we in the Nordic Region best help Ukraine and create the highest possible level of security in the Nordic Region, Europe and the world”, representatives from the Nordic Council, the Norwegian Minister for Nordic Co-operation, Anne Beathe Tvinnereim, Finland’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Pekka Haavisto, the Baltic Assembly, and the Ukrainian ambassador to Denmark, Mykhailo Vydoinyk, discussed the situation in Ukraine. The debate took place during the Nordic Council’s theme session in Malmö on 22 March.

After the debate, the ambassador was asked about his expectations in terms of the Nordic countries’ support for Ukraine in its defence to Russia’s invasion, and the message was clear: “We’re expecting a lot.”

“First of all, we need weapons,” he said, calling for the closure of the airspace over Ukraine.
