CSW67: The Nordics are ready to push for gender equality

When the Nordic co-operation attends the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) in New York , the goal is to stand for gender equality and showcase Nordic solutions to online gender-based violence and the pension gap.

The Nordic co-operation is arranging one high-level panel with the Nordic Gender Equality Ministers, and two expert panels. Welcome to take part!  

The UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), 6-17 March 2023, is the leading international body dedicated to improving the situation for women all over the world. The priority theme this year is Innovation and technological change, and education in the digital age for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls. The Nordic Co-operation activities will focus on making the digital world safer for all and ways to close the pension gap.

The sixty-seventh session of the Commission on the Status of Women, CSW67, will take place at the UN headquarters in New York. 

The Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) is the principal global intergovernmental body exclusively dedicated to the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of women. The CSW is instrumental in promoting women’s rights, documenting the reality of women’s lives throughout the world, and shaping global standards on gender equality and the empowerment of women.

A functional commission of the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC), it was established by ECOSOC resolution 11(II) of 21 June 1946.

During 2023 the Commission has the following priority and review themes during CSW67:

  • Priority theme: Innovation and technological change, and education in the digital age for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls. 
  • Review theme: Challenges and opportunities in achieving gender equality and the empowerment of rural women and girls (agreed conclusions of the sixty-second session).
