Survivors’ pensions in Åland

This page contains links to information on family pensions, such as surviving spouse’s pensions and orphan’s pensions, as well as the pension system applicable to residents of Åland.

The Finnish pension system applies in Åland, as do the rules governing survivors’ pensions. A surviving spouse’s pension is a form of financial support provided when a partner has died. An orphan’s pension is financial support for children if a parent or other guardian dies. Surviving spouse’s pensions and orphan’s pensions are classified as survivors’ pensions and may be paid by both Kela and earnings-related pension institutions.
