Survivors’ pensions in Åland
If a family member dies you can get financial support in the form of a spouse’s pension. Spouse’s pensions are financial security to cover part of the income provided by the deceased.
Since the rules are the same as in Finland, you can read about this on the Info Norden page Benefits in Finland in the event of bereavement
Who can get a spouse’s pension?
On the Kela website you can read about who can get a spouse’ pension, how to apply, the amount and when it is paid.
Survivors’ pension in international situations
If the deceased worked in another EU or EEA country or Switzerland or a country with which Finland has an agreement on social security, the widow(er) and children may be entitled to a survivors’ pension from that country. If the deceased was covered by social security in Finland, a survivors’ pension can be paid to the surviving spouse and children even if they are resident abroad.
