Thank you so much! It is a great honour for us to meet you here at the Nordic Council. Thank you also for your amazing and inspiring speech here today.

Earlier this autumn we had the possibility of meeting in the Finnish parliament with the Russian opposition members Kara-Murza and Yulia Navalnaya. Kara-Murza's powerful message was that we must not forget the dissidents and opposition politicians in Russia and in Belarus, who are risking their lives and safety to bring about change. The message was that European decision-makers should be in close contact with them and say loudly that we hear your message.

You have responded very well to the questions of what we could concretely do, and I would say, as the chair of the committee for culture and education, that yesterday we were handling a memorandum of students and researchers at risk, and at least in Finland and Norway it's going forward, and we hope that other Nordic countries as well will take these programs. But it is sad how attention in Europe is focused on one spot at a time, and I feel your sorrow for the fact that maybe Europeans are sometimes also forgetting about the suffering in Belarus. I would like to ask you what we could do in order to have the public attention and the media attention on the suffering in Belarus.

Tidigare i höst hade vi i det finländska parlamentet tillfälle att träffa de ryska oppositionspolitikerna Kara-Murza och Julia Navalnaja. Kara-Murzas kraftfulla budskap var att vi inte får glömma dissidenterna och oppositionspolitikerna i Ryssland och Belarus, som riskerar sina liv och sin säkerhet för att åstadkomma en förändring. Hans budskap var att beslutsfattarna i EU bör stå i nära kontakt med dem och tydligt säga att vi hör deras budskap.

Du har svarat mycket bra på frågorna om vad vi konkret kan göra, och som ordförande för utskottet för kunskap och kultur vill jag påpeka att vi i går behandlade ett memorandum om utsatta studerande och forskare, och åtminstone i Finland och Norge går det framåt, och vi hoppas att också andra nordiska länder ska anta dessa program.  Men det är sorgligt att uppmärksamheten i Europa fokuseras på en punkt i taget, och jag förstår den sorg ni känner över att européerna kanske ibland glömmer bort lidandet i Belarus. Jag skulle vilja fråga dig vad vi kan göra för att rikta allmänhetens och mediernas uppmärksamhet på lidandet i Belarus.
