Introduction
The Nordic Council of Ministers supports joint projects and collaboration between Nordic embassies outside the Nordic region through targeted funding initiatives. These initiatives contribute to the realization of Vision 2030 and strengthen the Nordic region’s international reputation, visibility, and strategic position.
This effort consists of two main pillars:
- Strategic partnerships with selected Nordic embassies
- Nordic Embassy Cooperation Programme (NEP)

The aim of this program is to promote Nordic solutions and perspectives globally, as well as to strengthen cooperation among the Nordic countries’ embassies outside the Nordic region.
The projects are connected to a wide range of areas, such as culture, democracy, environment, and gender equality. There is strong interest in the program, and it contributes to the Nordic region’s overall impact across many fields.
The programme aims to:
- Strengthen cooperation between Nordic embassies and missions
- Increase knowledge about Nordic cooperation and shared solutions
- Promote Nordic interests globally
- Support the realization of the Nordic Council of Ministers’ Vision 2030
Vision 2030 sets the ambition for the Nordic region to become the world’s most sustainable and integrated region by 2030. The Nordic Embassy Programme contributes to this goal by enabling joint Nordic initiatives that showcase Nordic leadership in sustainability, innovation, gender equality, democracy, and social trust.
The programme is financed through two yearly open calls administered by the Nordic Council of Ministers’ Office in Estonia.
