What is the event about?

Freedom of movement is one of the cornerstones of Nordic co-operation and a win-win for all the countries. Mobility stimulates the economy and increases prosperity.

Freedom of movement is also a top priority in the programme for the Swedish Presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers in 2024 and high on the Nordic Council's agenda.

The aim is to make it as easy as possible for companies to operate in multiple Nordic countries and for people to live, work and study on the other side of borders, a freedom that will be critical if the Nordic Region is to achieve the vision of becoming the most integrated region in the world by 2030.

But what will the future bring for freedom of movement in the Nordic Region? What are the challenges and barriers facing freedom of movement? What are the needs of companies and the business community? Do we have people for future jobs on the other side of borders? What do we need to think about to facilitate freedom of movement in the future?

These are just some of the questions we will consider as we celebrate Nordic Day 2024.
