This year, Nordic youth delegates will take charge of Nordic Talks at COP28. Over six events that will be broadcast live from the Nordic Pavilion, the delegates will invite guests to join them on stage for a personal conversation about some of the most pressing issues of our time.

The year 2030 is approaching rapidly, meaning we’re now at the midpoint of the Paris Agreement. This comes with a heightened sense of urgency when it comes to addressing the most pressing challenges in the world. Climate change, biodiversity loss, and sustainability issues have never been more critical, and the need for global co-operation and concerted action is paramount. Against this backdrop, the 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28) stands as a crucial juncture for the international community to reaffirm its commitment to mitigating climate change and charting a sustainable course for the future.

Once again, this year Nordic Talks will be present at COP28. However, the format of the concept has changed to become a live podcast session. This unique concept marks a departure from traditional panel discussions, which often dominate international political gatherings. Each event is hosted by Nordic youth delegates who have invited speakers who have given their lives to the climate movement. These live podcasts will cover a wide range of themes, from a gender-just transition to the triple planetary crisis and the reimagination of our food systems.

Attendees at the six Nordic Talks events can expect uncensored dialogue that captures the essence of the climate crisis from personal perspectives. Perspectives that often go unnoticed at international events of this magnitude. It’s an opportunity to hear the unabridged truth about climate change and the individual journeys of those at the forefront of the movement.

The podcast episodes will also be published on podcast platforms in the wake of COP28 for everyone to enjoy. Be sure to follow the Nordic Talks podcast to stay up to date on when these special episodes are released.

About Nordic Talks

Nordic Talks is a live conversation and podcast concept, run by the Nordic Co-operation. The initiative aims to provide a space for contemplation and dialogue between people across sectors and geographical boundaries. A Nordic Talk is always rooted in Vision 2030 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and each talk aspires to share inspiration on how we all can act in relation to the world’s most pressing issues in our day-today lives.
